Banned from Facebook?- Me TOO!!!

Happy New Year Brandon! You’ve been banned from Facebook! :)

Well, it’s official. I made my rebuttal a few days ago, and apparently I abused the system far too much for any type of reconsideration.

Here’s Facebook’s official response. I thought it was a bit harsh.

Hi Brandon,

Facebook will not tolerate behavior that users may find annoying or abusive, or that violates our Terms of Use or Advertising Guidelines. You have used your account to submit ads that are explicitly prohibited by our ad policies. As a result, your account has been permanently disabled.

We will not be able to reactivate your account, nor will you be able to recover any content within the account. You will also not be permitted to create a new account to restart your Facebook advertising. This decision is final.

Thank you for your understanding,

Blake
Risk Management
Facebook

I had been running ads with Facebook to promote my wife and I’s business, using the site WrapGirlsParty.com, had spent about 50k over the past year and had hundreds of ads approved.

So, if there was something that was explicity prohibited, they did an awful job catching it.

What bothers me, is to this day, I’ve never really known WHY any of my ads were approved and others were rejected. I used a picture of my wife in most ads, and my titles and ads were very relevant to the service being promoted. I also declared what happened on the landing page, and told the user exactly what we’d do with their information.

If it’s simply because it’s a home business, that’s just lame, but at least if they told me that, I’d understand.

And, if it’s simply because I submitted ads that were rejected, over and over, it’s because it worked, and they gave me no reasonable feedback to aide me in changing the ad.

All that being said, I’m excited to try out some new advertising methods in 2012, and being that Facebook hired a lot of X-Google Advertising Execs, I knew this day was coming soon!

Anyone else get banned?

New Years Resolution Idea… 30 Days of Writing

I recent watched the video ‘again’ by Matt Cutts over at ted.com

Over the past few days, I had been thinking about a cool new years resolution, but I’ve always gotten hung up when considering each change, knowing that it likely won’t be something I can get to stick and last the test of time.

However, after seeing that Matt decided to ‘draw’ something for 30 days, I thought, ‘stop thinking about it so much’ and do something that you’re unsure about.

So, I’m going to try to write something each day this month, that get posted somewhere on my network of sites. I figure, even if it’s keyword focused it would definitely be a great habit to get into when I get up in the morning.

If you’re an internet marketer, I think one of the biggest road blocks you run into is distractions. Checking email, analyzing traffic, chatting via IM, researching trends and news, etc… The list goes on and on and the never ending launches, new products, and random theories about SEO definitely have their place.

I know a few guys in network marketing who make a very handsome living, strictly because they are disciplined in writing good content, every day, that brings in a few visitors a day. I KNOW that this stuff really adds up, and if you put forth real ‘effort’ consistently, it pays off.

So, if you’re looking for a new year’s resolution, hopefully this inspires you, and if not, maybe one of my next 29 articles will. :-)

A REAL Money-Making Case Study? – (Auto Insurance CPA Leads) OW!

CPA Case Study for Auto Insurance LeadsI love reading case studies. So, I thought I’d try one myself.

At the last affiliate summit I attended, I met up with some pretty cool folks over at Integrate.com, and they proceeded to tell me all about some of their auto insurance affiliates making 3-5k per day on Auto Insurance CPA offers.

So, naturally, I thought I should build a site in that niche. :)

What I want to do in this case study, is:
a) Buy a decently ranked, aged domain. (Preferably related to auto-insurance, but we’ll see how tough that is)
b) Create a slick little PSD design for an auto insurance site, which will promote CPA offers.
c) Have the site coded up over at HTMLCUT.com. (LOVE these guys)
d) Purchase keyword targeted content from TheContentAuthority.com
e) Hammer this site with links, and see what kind of organic traffic I can accumulate.

FYI: EVERY big affiliate focuses on FREE organic traffic. Well, not EVERY, but most that I’ve met. I love organic traffic for the same reason I love multi-level marketing. You do the work once, and with a little maintenance, you get paid over and over and over again. Just good biz. :)

step 1 – a killer domain.
So, first thing is first, I need to buy a domain. I like to use RegisterCompass.com for aged domain research because it allows you to see back-linking profiles, Page Rank, and let’s you filter using those attributes as well. I’m not looking to spend much here, mostly because I want this case study to be easily duplicated by others.

Okay, so I found the following domain, Hallenbrick.com. It appears that it used to be a brewery, and it’s a few years old. It has some decent links, and as of the last PR update it was PR3. So, not bad for $30. The links won’t be very relevant, but the goal here is just to find something generic sounding (hallenbrick could be an insurance firm, right?) haha.

We also want a domain that Google already has indexed, so that when we start hammering it with backlinks, Google isn’t surprised. (This was a couple hour task, unless you’re building a big authority site, I wouldn’t recommend spending tons of time on this step either)

Also, keywords aren’t THAT important to have in the domain itself. I’d sacrifice that for a good domain with PR and age, every time.

step 2 – a killer design.
Okay, so we’re still on day one here, and I thought I’d jump right into creating the design. I’m not a photoshop expert, but I’m good enough to make things look okay, and I enjoy it. So, here’s what I came up with for a layout.

Template for Auto Insurance CPA Offers

For those of you who haven’t built a site like this before, the main objective is to get a person’s information and point them toward one simple action. In this case, (because I know a little bit about the offer that I’d like to promote) I want the user to enter their zip code into the box in the upper left. I’ll also end up putting an image in the box/ad space in the middle right to this offer, and probably a few hyperlinks throughout the page on some of the ‘action’ words, like insurance quote, etc…

Also, if you can’t use photoshop to create something decent, then leave it to the professionals, or just go get a nice WP theme. For me, I’m only looking to create a 10 page mini-site, and I like to have control over EVERYthing, which is why I’m building a static site, and not using WP.

step 3 – killer coding.
HtmlCut is really amazing. Their turnaround for me is generally less than 24 hours, and it usually costs me about $150 dollars, an in this case, it was $128. You can literally upload your PSD file, choose all the default options, and if there’s a problem, they’ll email you, or you can request a rework.

The last time I used HTMLCut I had a few changes I wanted made (that were my fault), and they did them all at no charge. Awesome.

This time, again, took about 16 hours, and I have my clean, seo-optimized, html to upload to my server.

step 4 – killer keywords and content.
I use ContentAuthority almost exclusively for my web content needs. Generally speaking, if it’s a sales letter, or something that needs some real ‘love’ I do it myself, but if it’s anything else, I use these guys. I’ve found that I get the best results purchasing the tier 3 content, called EXCELLENT on their site. I’ve ordered the .05 words before, but I can’t usually tell a difference in quality between 2 cents and 5 cents.

I’m not going to get too in depth with what I did for keyword research, because I didn’t do all that much. (I’m a bit lazy) I tend to just ‘try’ things out, and if they work, I keep going, and if not, I switch ‘em up. It can be difficult to gauge exactly how difficult a niche is, until you get into it.

But for those of you new to this, here is the little bit I DID, do.

Keyword Research for Auto Insurance

I love using the Google Instant/Suggestions for keyword research, and then using the related keywords (which is under the “more search tools”) in the lower left when performing any search.

First off, Google gives great suggestions, and I believe that people see what they’re looking for in the Google suggestions and they often click those. So, I like to start there.

I also know that Google loves when you theme your site, so I like to dig down a few levels of keywords, then I outsource content based on those keywords, then I link them all together, bottom to top. So, to give you a real example, I used these phrases:

Level 1 (Home Page)
Online Car Insurance Quotes

Level 2 (Supporting Article Pages)
Cheap Auto Insurance
General Insurance Payment

Level 3 (Supporting, Supporting Article Pages)
Cheap Auto Insurance Florida
Geico
Progressive

Now, every level 3 article links back to an article on level 2, and the level 2 articles link to the home page, and the home page links to my money page/cpa offer.    As far as content goes, I’m having 300 word articles written for level 3, 400 for level 2, and 800 for level 1.  I’ve found that Google doesn’t care too much about article length anymore, but Bing and Yahoo like long articles.  Of course, this stuff changes every day, but for what it’s worth right now… ;)

step 5 – killer backlinks.
Okay, now comes the fun part.  The site is LIVE, and it’s time to find some good backlinks.

Now, this is going to be pretty black-hat, so if you’re a virgin in this regard, you might be slightly offended.  However, it’s necessary to do the job.

NOTE: For all of my linking, I’m going to use a combination of Naked URLs and my main keyword phrases, approximately 50/50,  and approximately 50/50 home page links vs deep page links.  KISS.

Here is my pseudo-plan for the site.

Days 1-7
Submit a Press Release at SubmitInMe.com

Digg, Twitter, Facebook, Redditt, Google Buzz, Google +1 – Mimic viral nature of new sites

Purchase 2 high PR links from TextLinkAds.com (one home page, one deep)

(everything in days 1-7 is meant to mimic a natural looking site release, viral and new press)

Days 7-14
5 links per day (profile accounts, existing blog network content posts, high PR blog comments (mix in and edu/gov))

(these should be GOOD links, from manually created accounts and solid blogs… nothing shady)

Days 14-30
10 links per day, keep it clean, use directories, article submissions, profile accounts, forums, video distribution, rss feeds and make it very diverse

(you can find great help here from oDesk.com for less than $5/hour)

Days 30-60
20 links per day – it gets shady.   (add LinkPwn2.0, Dripable, LinkPushing.Net, PaidBacklinks.com etc to your existing link methods)

Days 60-90
30 links per day – repeat shadiness.

It’s important that your linking is CONSISTENT.  There should not be ANY lulls in your linkbuilding efforts, and you should maintain a very natural link profile at all times.  Always have video links, forum links, etc..

Okay, it’s Sept 27th today, and my site should be live and ready for linking any minute now. I’ll update this post with my rankings, income, etc… asap!

Article Theft! – The Unfortunate “Farmer” Side-Effect…

This post won’t be too long, just jam-packed with goodness.

In doing a bit of research in my downtime this week, I noticed that TONS of my articles had be thieved from the various content sites (now deemed “FARMS”), e.g. ezinearticles.com, goarticles.com etc…

Basically, there are thousands of blogs just stealing content from these farms, and because google has dis-credited these so-called ‘farms’, the thieves are ranking as the original source!

It’s like the fake jordans getting sold on ebay for more than the originals.

Anywho, I could post dozens of examples, but its very easy to see what’s going on. Just pick any ol’ article on goarticles.com, and google a phrase from the article in quotes.

The farmer update did ‘some’ good, and I openly acknowledge that (even though it hurt some of my business). But, this just encourages thievery, and kills ANY benefit that could have still been gleamed from real article marketing.

new sites!  (affbox.com, tutorsly.com)

Over the past few months, I’ve been working on a few new sites, (also why I haven’t updated here in a while) and I’m just excited to share them…

Tutorsly.com was created SPECIFICALLY to fulfill a large gap which was present in the tutoring/lesson planning arena online.  We teamed up with the site wyzant.com, and utilized their database of over 30,000 tutors, and my hopes is this will become a ‘kayak’ of sorts in the tutoring space…

affBox.com has been my baby, created out of a flat-out passion to have something better in the affiliate space.  Everything out there, (UP UNTIL NOW), was fueled by commissions and ulterior motives. If I was considering using a PPC tool, a designer, a piece of SEO software, ANYthing had a commission tied to the review! At affBox, its all reviews and ratings by peers… That’s it.

WrapGirlsParty.com is a funny one.  I basically decided that Facebook and Google sucked, because they hate MLM and home businesses so much, so I decided to make my MLM  (It Works Marketing) look more like a party plan to see how it would do.  And, it worked beautifully!  This site, brings in dozens of really great leads into our business every day!    (designed it myself, girly right?)

That’s really it for now, just wanted to share what I’ve been up to… Don’t be afraid to jump into new spaces and keep things new and exciting!

3 Tips For Easy Money With PPV(CPV)

easy money with PPV.

Over the past few weeks, I’ve discovered how simple it can be to make money with PPV advertising, and I thought it would be cool to share them with ya’ll.

1. short forms (email and zip submits)

This is pretty important, because visitors flat out don’t trust ppv ads. They are pop-ups, they are generally annoying, and who would want to put a bunch of personal information into an ad like that.

I made the mistake of thinking I could long form offers, and I thought I could make money selling products through PPV too. I’m sure people are successful with it, but if you are a newbie and haven’t found your first profitable PPV offer yet, then stick with email, zip, or very short form offers.

2. be specific and use your brain

This tip is incredibly important.  When I first got started with PPV, I created large campaigns, with every random sneaky url I could think of.  And, inevitably I’d burn through hundreds of dollars and if I was lucky, find one or two winning URL’s and try to scale from there.  DUMB!

I’ve found its MUCH easier to ask your affiliate manager for a hot offer, and then use your brain to think up a dozen or so URLs and keyword phrases and start there.  For instance,  if you’re running an zip submit for  a walmart gift card, what domains and keywords do you think might work well?

How about ‘walmart coupons’ or ‘walmart discount code’  or even ‘walmart.com/<their checkout page>’?

Now, if your offer is converting on those URL’s, you can start expanding from there with different PPV/CPV networks!   Trust me, this will work and be profitable a majority of the time!

3. autoplay audio/video

Some networks aren’t a big fan of this, but it works incredibly well.  On many of my campaigns, I’ve DOUBLED my conversion rate, simply by adding a “Congratulations” auto-play message to my landing page.

If you’re not doing PPV yet, you should be! In my opinion, it’s the easiest way to make money online.

The banner below contains my affiliate link for PeerFly which is quickly becoming my favorite new affiliate network. I have direct linked to several of their offers for a profit. That shows you that they get the very best offers for their affiliates.

If you register using this link or the above banner, let me know and I’ll do whatever I can to help you start making some money! ;)

Google Instant – Wonder Wheel GONE?!

google-instantI wasn’t really planning on posting today, since my blog is currently in limbo with a new design…

But, the web-o-sphere has dictated otherwise.

So, I just wanted to point out a few interesting topics, if you haven’t noticed yet. First off, it appears that the Google Wonder Wheel is gone? Anyone else seeing this? The Wonder Wheel was a great tool for affiliate marketers doing lateral keyword research, and unless I’m crazy, it’s vanished.

This leads me to the next interesting topic…

Google introduced their newest search technology today, called “Google Instant”! It might not seem like much, but this will have serious implications (good and bad) on the way you search, your customers search, and the way information is created, stored, and indexed.

Google Instant automatically ‘suggests’ phrases and keywords that the user is trying to query on. So, what happens to the crazy ‘longtail’ phrase that we all have been focusing on?

Welp, I’d guess that it’s gone forever.

If you are searching for “cure weight”, oh wait, “weight loss cure” is suggested by Google Instant.. THANKS GOOGLE! And…. there goes your longtail clout.

In my opinion, this is going to (eventually) weed out the keyword phrases that are 4 words plus completely…

Anyone else have thoughts on Wonder Wheel disappearing or Google Instant? I’m VERY curious!
