Adwords, Special Characters, & Click-Thru…

By admin

So, some of you might be wondering if using special characters can improve your click thru rate….

The answer is… YES.

I have been adding special characters to my ads, and titles , of one type or another,  for several years now,  and the bottom line is… they work.

So.. changing your ad copy from  MAKE 100K/yr  to  »MAKE 100K/yr« WILL actually improve your CTR – you’re right.

If you do a search for HTML special characters you’ll get a list of dozens of these bad boys that ALL WORK.   There is a reason that we make such an effort to target the ‘exact’ keywords for an Adwords ad, and that’s because the ad gets BOLDED.  The bold immediately draws us to the ad, and its no different with these special characters… they help draw our attention.

So, don’t take my word for it.. change the title of your ad (or your website… <tip>) to one that includes a few of these special characters, and see your CTR skyrocket.

Oh, and some editors at Google Adwords have started disapproving these characters, but not all.  So if you get rejected, just try, try,  again…

Adwords is a really great tool for promoting your website, forum or affiliate link. the ppc cost of adwords is even cheaper than Friendster or Facebook. before, i used to advertise on facebook but the ROI is so low. Adwords gives me a much better ROI compared to Facebook ads.
